First, the program was renamed to Broken X Disk Manager. This does however of course not affect the licenses of registered users. The user interfaced was modernized with new icons and graphics. There is now only the Unicode version available, but additionally there is now also an x64 edition available for registered users. The database encoding changed to not increase file size for most databases. New features include the creation and storage of audio previews for sound, music and video files. The modernization of the program also took a casualty -- Disk Manager now only supports Windows 2000 and later. An older program version is provided for prior Windows operating systems, which may still receive bug fixes.

Version 3.93 fixes errors that were found during development of version 4 till now. Please see the Development History for details.
This will very likely be the last version of the 3.x series - if no severe bugs emerge. Version 4 development already begun.
Beside new features version 4 will also bring some other changes:
- The program was renamed to Broken X Disk Manager. This will of course not affect registered users, licenses will still be valid
for all future versions of the program.
You can now already reach my website with new addresses:
http://www.brokenx.com and http://dm.brokenx.com.
- In version 4 there will only be the Unicode version. That means the software will no longer support Windows 95/98/Me.
I plan this because there have already been too many compatibility issues with those Windows versions in the past. It's getting harder and harder
to implement new features as well for those old systems. Moreover, Microsoft stopped offering support for Win98/Me in July, so there are no more security fixes and updates available.
The MBCS version will then make room for an x64 edition (Professional Version only) and maybe a Disk Manager - Browser Edition.
- Version 4 stores databases in UTF-8 format to not increase the size due to Unicode encoding.
Broken X Disk Manager was successfully tested under Windows Vista™ (Beta2).
